In this post we are going to build our ”true rock tone” using our virtual amplifiers and pedals. We recommend to use Deluxe1 and TwinR amps. It’s not necessary to have huge quantities of pedals to play classic rock music, but we also think about the “nerds of sound” who wants to experiment a bit to get a unique guitar tone.

We built 3 main presets, then we had some experiment with pedals.

  • Amplifiers : Deluxe1, TwinR
  • Effects : SHOD, Pha90, C2, Carbon, Tremolo

We recorded all the sample with a Fender Telecaster. No EQ, no compression, no reverb, just the guitar plugged into the audio interface. In the first part of the audio sample you hear the Deluxe1 and in the second part you hear the TwinR. Let’s listen to ”clean tone” samples.

Now let’s listen to some crunch samples. We are using virtual SHOD (Sweet Honey Overdrive, licensed by Mad Professor) for the dirty tone wich is such a great pedal for rock music.
In the first part of the audio sample you hear the Deluxe1 and in the second part you hear the TwinR. Let’s listen to ”clean tone” samples.

Now let’s test the SHOD for the heavy tones combined with modulation pedals.

Finally let’s listen to some lead tone. We used the SHOD, P90 and the Carbon Delay.
