Verbtone is a physical model of a plate reverb.

Physical modeling means that the processing is designed starting from physical laws to get a behavior and a sound resembling the real thing.

Main advantages are realism and the sound that, in this case, doesn’t contain bad resonances, the nightmare of a reverb designer when using classic feedback delay networks.

Here is an audio sample where Verbtone is tested on a set of drum microphones. While the bass guitar is dry, the drums, mixed in a stereo channel, start with some reverb (Verbtone set to “build” a medium room) and then get dry, more reverb, too much, a good setting, dry again and so on, just to evaluate the quality of the emulation.

(They are DoppioCorpo. The drums are a set of mahogany shells with Italian cymbals).
